Introducing the Jazz Vocalist Louise Stuckey

Louise Stuckey - Jazz Vocalist

Louise has definitely made her mark as a highly respected jazz singer and one who is capable of crossing the borders of jazz into other fields such as pop and rock. Getting to the very essence of a song and conveying this to her audience is where Louise excels. Her interpretations of jazz standards are original, but she still manages to retain the true flavour of the original song. This is something she seems to be able to apply to any song whether it’s a jazz standard, a pop song or a rock ballad. Louise has been influenced by many singers of the past such as Ella Fitzgerald,  Judy Garland, Vera Lynn and Dusty Springfield. However, she doesn’t just copy a singer – she uses that influence to develop her own unique and inimitable style

Her background has consisted of classical vocal lessons from the age of 9. She has had a thorough training in Musical Theatre and Acting, receiving a foundation certificate from The Oxford School of Drama and a BA Hons degree in Acting from The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA). Louise has performed in several theatre shows and touring productions as well as performing as a singer at many corporate events, weddings and private parties.

I can be booked as a pianist for any Christmas party

Christmas Tree

Christmas is upon us again and lots of parties and other festivities have to be planned. I am often hiredas a pianist for Christmas parties - especially in London. Pianists are plentiful in South East England but there are so many parties happening that there is more than enough work for most of them. I am often asked to provide background dinner music, but Christmas often demands music of a more lively nature, and people often like to have a sing song. I  play lots of Christmas songs, but here are just two Christmas song medleys that I can provide song sheets for:

Christmas Sing-along Sheet 1

Away in a Manger
Good Christian Men Rejoice
God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen
Silent Night
I Saw Three Ships
Hark the Herald Angels
O Come All Ye Faithful

Christmas Sing-along Sheet 2

The First Noel
While Shepherds Watched
O Little Town of Bethlehem
Once in Royal David's City
Good King Wenceslas
Ding Dong Merrily on High
We Three Kings of Orient Are

Christmas Sing-along Sheet 3

Deck the Halls
Jingle Bells
The Holly and the Ivy
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
We Wish You a Merry Christmas
The Twelve Days of Christmas

Christmas Sing-along Sheet 4

Winter Wonderland
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
The Christmas Song
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Frosty the Snowman
Santa Claus is Coming to Town
White Christmas

Please note that I am always willing to learn any requests that you may have.

Baby Grand Piano Shell Hire

 Baby Grand Piano Shell 3

A baby grand piano shell is available for those occasions where a normal digital piano just wouldn’t look quite right. This can be set up in about 45 minutes and it holds a conventional digital piano. A lot of people think that it is a real grand piano when they see it and are surprised when they find out that it is just a shell with a keyboard inside. It only costs an additional £80 for Eugene to bring this piece of equipment with him to an event. That is a small fraction of what it would be to hire a grand piano from a supplier.

There are a few limitations on where Eugene can offer this service, but it is fine for most situations. There are restrictions in Central Hertfordshire and other major cities due to parking problems. Please contact Eugene and he will try and get around any obstacles.

 Baby Grand Piano Shell 4

There are limitations on where I'm able to offer the use of this digital baby grand piano. There are definitely restrictions in Central London and other major cities due to parking problems, but please contact me and I will try and get around any obstacles.

Baby Grand Piano Shell 2

I will carry on offering the Yamaha P155 digital piano at no additional extra cost. This instrument is very smart looking and is perfect for most events. See image below.

Hire Me as a Sing-a-long Pianist

Good Old Fashioned Pub Entertainment - The Way it Used to Be

A fairly recent trend has been to hire me for events as a sing-along pianist. A London pub was the first to hire me for this sort of thing - this was quickly followed by venues in Essex, Kent, Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire. At first I wasn't that enthusiastic about doing sing-alongs, but after doing my first Cockney theme night in London I was hooked. It does require a different type of skill to my normal playing and I really have to try and help the singers come in at the right places and in the right key (if possible!). It would be useles just to bring a book of songs along and play from that - as most of them were published in keys which are difficult for the average person to sing. I've had to change the keys of nearly every song in my sing-along repertoire and I have really noticed that the singing now sounds more mellifluous and I hear a lot less screeching!

Sing-a-long Pianists in the Past

There was a day when nearly every pub had a piano (or  'Joanna') in it and everyone would get around it and sing all the old Cockney favourites. London pub pianists were renowned throughout the country and the East End was

considered the Mecca for this style of entertainment. Although London seemed to have more pubs with pianists per square mile, the rest of the country also had their fair share of  places where you could go and have a good sing-song. At one time sing-a-long pianists could be heard on the the radio and entertainers such as Mrs Mills and Russ Conway were very successful in their day. Many people had a piano in their homes and before the days of TV everyone used to sing and play musical instruments. Yes, 'they used to make their own entertainment then' as you've probably heard many times.

 Things Move On

These days we play with computers, game consoles and watch telly, but there is still an angel in all of us that is just dying to get out and sing - especially when we've had a few drinks. Just look how many people are watching XFactor, and even Karaokes are still popular - especially in the north of England. The only problem with Karaokes is that the only person singing is the one on the microphone and usually that person is the only one enjoying it. An old fasioned sing-a-long allows everyone to sing at the same time and there is nothing like that sound of an honky-tonk pianist churning out those old songs. It doesn't matter whether it's Christmas or someones birthday - people like to have a sing-song especially with a pianist.

Hiring Me as a Sing-a-long Pianist

A pianist playing the old Cockney songs will always goes down really well at a private party and it wont take much organising. I can bring along some song sheets and we can just take it from there. My song sheets cover lots of genres besides all the Cockney favourites. I also play songs from the musicals, The Beatles, The Kinks, Cliff Richard, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and many other popular artists.

Please don't think that you have to have a piano to hire a pianist, as I can bring a portable electronic piano with me on the day. I  also have a setting on my keyyboard that gives an authentic honky tonk pub piano sound which can be heard on the music on this page. Another option that I can offer is to dress as a typical old time cokney pub pianist. This would include: bowler hat, waistcoat, red neckerchief, grandad shirt etc.
