Aaron Ramsey

Yesterday turned out to be quite a surprising day for me; and a very special day for both Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey and Colleen Rowlands who were married at Caldicot Castle. I was booked to play the piano for this prestigious event by Collection 26 who are a luxury wedding and events company based in London. I wasn’t given the names of the bride and groom, but obviously I was given all the essential information such as venue, times etc. The whole thing had been kept ‘hush-hush’ from the media, but during my time there I spoke to quite a few local people, and I realised that most of them had a pretty good idea what was occurring behind those ancient castle walls.

My job was to entertain the guests during the wedding breakfast and I’ve got to say, that they were a really friendly bunch and really easy to please. Amongst the guests were his Arsenal team mate Theo Walcott; Welsh international team mate and Reading defender Chris Gunter; Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale; and former Wales international team mate Craig Bellamy. Collection 26 had hired a beautiful grand piano and I was really looking forward to playing it. In fact I was a bit disappointed when I had to stop playing this wonderful instrument and go home. I am hired as a pianist for a lot of weddings and I am used to playing the piano for the ceremony, drinks reception and the wedding breakfast which usually covers around 5 hours in all. On this occasion I was only required two short sets set through the meal which didn’t seem very long at all to me. I had only just got myself warmed up when I had to finish.

All in all I had a great time and I was treated very well by all the Collection 26 staff. I wish Colleen and Aaron all the very best for the future and I hope that they had a lovely day at Caldicot Castle.
